Upon review, it seems I reblog a lot of James McAvoy, movies/TV shows I'm currently watching, and the funnies. If you're into that, welcome, friend.

  • Interviewer: I just wonder if it was different for you playing Charles Xavier after you became a Dad… because if you look at Erik versus Charles, that’s two very different kinds of paternalism.
  • James McAvoy: Yeah… I don’t know, I think… Maybe not as a person, but as a Dad, I think I would be more likely to side with Erik.
  • Interviewer: Really?
  • James McAvoy: Yeah!
  • Interviewer: Why is that?
  • James McAvoy: Because Charles’s way may take hundreds of years, and that’s not gonna benefit my kid. [...] I think it’s symptomatic of the human race’s immediacy and our reactiveness - you know, we’re not thinking a hundred years down the line, we’re thinking… I want my kid to go to a good school now. We’re not thinking about, you know, slowly slowly, we’re thinking how do I change my life for the better right now. We are self-concerned and we are self-centred instinctually. We have this intellect, that then combats that and is trying to sort of make us think of the future and think more positively for the whole world and all that, but instinctually we’re selfish creatures as well. And yet… I just think we’re double-natured we’ve got this battle going on between selfishness and selflessness and at times we’re hugely co-operative and at times we’re hugely selfish and insular. I’m not saying this is what I’d want but it’s maybe how I would react in a scenario like that, I’d be… I’d be there with Erik, going like, ‘Okay, I don’t want to do this but… death to the humans. If you’re gonna mess with us then we’re gonna mess with you back. Check me out, I can do cool things with my fingernails.’
